For Older Adults & Families

You can't always be there.
We can help you stay connected.

Work, distance and family responsibilities can make it hard to spend as much time together as you would like. Young & Wise offers another source of meaningful social connection—not a replacement for family, and not a care service.

What companionship can include

More than someone checking in.

A companion can talk, listen, share stories and enjoy everyday activities with an older adult, within an agreed non-medical service plan.

Conversation & Reading

Talk, listen, read together and share stories, ideas and memories.

Games & Interests

Play cards, chess, board games or explore a favourite hobby.

Walks & Outings

Enjoy a walk or visit a café, library, museum or community activity when appropriate and agreed.

Everyday Technology

Friendly help with smartphones, video calls, apps and everyday digital tools.

Shared Projects

Explore a personal webpage, organize photos or capture a life story together.

Family Connection

Discuss how family members may stay informed, with the older adult's preferences and permission respected.

Thoughtful matching

The right fit is about more than a schedule.

We consider interests, personality, language, communication style, life experience, location, preferences and availability. Families can share what would help a first introduction feel comfortable. No match is guaranteed, and preferences depend on availability.

Where connections may happen

At home or in the community; in a retirement residence, long-term-care setting or hospital only where the facility's policies and permissions allow it. Activities and settings are agreed in advance and depend on the person's circumstances.

Companionship, not caregiving

Young & Wise provides non-medical companionship. Companions do not provide nursing care, medical treatment, medication administration, bathing or toileting assistance, lifting or transferring, wound care, personal care, financial management or banking. If someone needs these services, a regulated or qualified care provider may be a better fit.
