Frequently Asked Questions

Current availability, fees and operating details should be confirmed directly before any service begins.

Is Young & Wise a home-care agency?

No. Young & Wise offers intergenerational connections, shared living, community programs, international assistance and personal story projects. Some arrangements include agreed practical support, but students do not provide medical, nursing or personal care.

What do Companions do?

Depending on an agreed plan, they may talk, read, play games, walk, share interests, help with everyday technology or join appropriate community activities.

What is outside the role?

Companions do not provide nursing or medical treatment, administer medication, provide personal care such as bathing or toileting, lift or transfer, provide wound care, manage finances or handle banking.

Who are the Companions?

Young & Wise is built around university students. Recruitment materials cover application, screening, references, training, conduct and employment steps. Current eligibility and openings should be confirmed directly.

How are connections matched?

We consider interests, personality, language, communication style, life experience, location, preferences and availability—not schedule alone. A match depends on suitability and availability.

Can I request a language or other preference?

You can share preferences during the initial conversation. We will explain what may be accommodated based on availability and suitability.

Can connections continue after a first visit?

The intention is to support ongoing connections when both people want to continue and the arrangement is suitable. Schedules and terms are agreed individually.

Where can visits happen?

At home or in community settings; visits in retirement residences, long-term-care settings or hospitals depend on that location's rules and permissions.

What does it cost?

Contact Young & Wise for current pricing, availability and terms.

Can I apply as a student?

Start with the student interest form to discuss current student opportunities. Further recruitment, screening, references, training and employment steps may follow.

Can Young & Wise make a personal website or preserve a life story?

Personal pages, websites and life-story projects are available by arrangement. Scope, privacy, ownership, maintenance, timing and fees are agreed for each project.
